Bucky Larson (5/1 into 7/2 favourite) completed a Gowran double for Ger Lyons and Colin Keane when landing the Support The Irish Injured Jockeys Handicap.
The Footstepsinthesand gelding was following up a Dundalk success achieved back in February, and today carried on the good work for Glenburnie, set in motion by Maker Of Kings in the colts and geldings maiden earlier.
In a ‘busy finish,’ fourth home Sir Jack Thomas caught the eye finishing well, whilst Gallic (5th) got no luck in running.
However Bucky Larson was a deserved victor, putting it all in to see off dead-heating second placers, Tommy Taylor and Royal Highness by a length and a quarter.
"He is a brilliant workhorse and is a work companion for Siskin (tomorrow’s Irish 2,000 Guineas favourite),” said Lyons’ brother Shane.
"We had planned to run him in the Lincoln but he didn't make the cut.
“The big worry was the seven furlong trip today but the watered ground played to his strengths and he deserved that. We'll look to get him into one of those big handicaps."
S.M. Crosse, rider of Memyselfandmoi trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung badly left up the straight.
S. Foley, rider of Stormy Belle trained by P.A.Fahy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got no run.
W.J. Lee, rider of Gallic (GB), trained by P. Twomey, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries at the request of the Stewards that his mount got no run in the straight.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Mokhalad (GB), trained by Damian Joseph English, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
