Kevin Prendergast's second string Vastonea stayed on best to provide a 20/1 upset in Leopardstown's seven furlong colts and geldings maiden under Sam James. Sun 31st Oct
we’ll give him (Vastonea) a break for the winter now. He’s a right old horse and pays his way and has won two Topaz Miles (at Galway) and was third in another. He has won over €240,000 now and he’s a star in our place and everyone’s favourite. we’ve had a good season and while I didn’t have that many horses, they all performed well. Aneen is a very nice filly and hopefully if everything goes right she’ll make a nice three-year-old. She’ll probably start off in one of the Guineas trials and hopefully progress from there.

He stuck it out well but he had to have the 3Ibs (successful jockey Sam James' claim) off. The rain that fell helped him too.

We didn't think he had done enough at home before this race but evidently he had. He is by Verglas and most of those horses prefer easy ground and win in France. He is probably a decent horse in the making.
