Darragh looked for the ride and that was probably an omen. Darragh was sweet enough on him, he rode him in Ballinrobe and while well-beaten, he galloped all the way to the line. Good ground might be the key to him as well. For a good class horse on the level he isn't finding a lot off the bridle. I was disappointed with him in Clonmel the last day I thought he emptied a small bit. There is no pressure whatsoever from the owners. When they have all the good horses on the flat this is just a bit of fun. I suppose we will keep him to two miles and he could come back here in August if there is a race for him.

After race at Listowel Mon, 7th Jun, 2021 (1st)
I was stuck half-ways but it was easier go over than turn back and I had a pocket full of money which was floating wet. Val O'Connell (clerk of the course) told me he found two fifties but I don't know if he was telling me the truth or not!. the ground was in beautiful order but was drying and they watered it well last night. This horse has had leg trouble and we take him to Beale for the salt water. I was getting cold feet watching the race as they seemed to be jumping so fast but he measures his jumps and is a very kind horse. In fairness to Listowel they do everything well with facilities and staffing and they are fantastic.

He's a lovely horse that idled in front. I think he's going to go on to do better things, possibly a bit of company would have been a big help. We'll step up now to, definitely listed and maybe group company, and see if we are competitive there and I believe he will be. He's a very placid, beautiful, sound, correct horse in every way so I don't see any reason not to step up now. We nothing particularly planned. We looked at all the races but I didn't bother putting him in any of the Group 1s or anything yet. He might be sold as he's an owner/breeder but if I can get him excited enough we might get to keep him too. He's a good horse, it's not just lucky or anything, he's a good horse. He acted very colty beforehand and is a fine big raw horse as you can see. Part of me wouldn't have minded being second so he would get another stab at a maiden before you have to step him up. He'll learn plenty from that, it was his first day on turf, he needed very yard of the trip and loved the ground. We're after getting the dead-heat and we'll see if there is a winners race now and we'll give him plenty of time between races. I had only intended to give him two, maximum three starts, this year. He's a trip horse for next year but a nice one.
