The Michael O'Callaghan trained Angelic Light ran out an easy winner of the opener at the Curragh, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden. Fri 31st Aug
She has been very consistent this year and ran to her best Racing Post rating ever on her last run, as a six year old. That's the way she wants to be ridden - handyish off a nice pace and with something to aim at. She didn't get stopped and flew home. She is stronger than she ever was and she is in again at the Curragh on Saturday. She is a great workhorse and is a good guide - if you can get by her on the Old Vic (gallop, at the Curragh) you are going well. We might look at something in France after the season ends here, for some black type and she might run in-foal again next year.

She had run 47 times and never ran here. It’s a track that would ideally suit her as she is sharp away and there is a long straight. Luke gave her a brilliant ride and won the same way on her in Listowel before. She loves a bit of hassle at the end of a race and he kept her among horses. She is in foal to Equiano and that’s why she hasn’t ran recently. She is a great mare for us and a great guide at home for work. We’ll keep running away until around Galway.

She's been running well in fairness and is so honest. She's our guide at home in work, she's an unbelievable workhorse.

This is my new favourite track! I rode a double in a point-to-point but that is my first racecourse double - I hardly ever have two runners. She won well in Gowran and it was a write-off the last day as she jumped a bit quick, was keen and got struck into. It was also the wrong thing to do stepping her up in trip and she did everything right today and another top young lad was riding. She is a filly on the up, and is in again at Cork on Wednesday, so hopefully they'll divide it as both her and (earlier division winner) Mary Salome are getting in. We have a lovely team coming up, we have 20 horses and while we have a handful of jumpers, 90 per cent are for the flat. We are always looking for more horses.

After race at Listowel Sun, 6th Jun, 2021 (1st)
she was unlucky with the way the race unfolded the last day, she hit the front two furlongs out and doesn't want to be in front too soon. Luke gave her an absolute peach today, he held on to her and that's the way she wants to be ridden. She has loads of ability, has had a few little issues but is back to herself now. She is in again on Wednesday in that (45-65) grade, she'll have a heavy weight but we'll have a look at it as she is coming back to form. Luke rode my first winner for me and is a really good lad and is obviously from Mr (Jim) Bolger's.

That was good and I'm delighted with her as we were very disappointed with her the last day. She was in good order but, I don't know, maybe with the time of the year she wasn't herself on the day. We drew a line through it and were delighted to get in (as a reserve) this morning and she is versatile ground-wise. She is a good-looking filly and please God we have another day out like this. We got the call early this morning, half an hour before the departure time so it was good timing!

We're delighted with her and we bought her to have a bit of fun. She ran a cracker at the Curragh last time out but she has come on from it and hasn't stopped improving yet and there is more to come and she will grow some more as well. The penny is dropping nicely with her. She is pretty much my first horse but I have a share in a couple with Dr Catherine Wills over in Britain in training with James Fanshawe and she gave me a taste for it, which I am very grateful for. Paul Clarke, my old agent, and myself own this filly and we bought her for fun and also to support the family and Madeleine and it has worked out brilliantly. They've looked after us very well and the ground is perfect for this time of year, and you couldn't get it any better. It's great to be here today and hopefully there'll be many more days to come.
