the surprises are always the best ones! I asked David (Casey) to go out and get him to jump around and if he'd any chance to take it. I said to him if he got around he'd have more speed than the others and he probably even arrived too soon!. I'm delighted for the horse, his owner and especially his jockey as he gave him a terrific ride. I'd imagine he'll go for the Cheltenham Gold Cup next and better ground should suit too - the ground might not be as bad as we thought today.

I'm delighted with that. I was very disappointed with him at Fairyhouse when he pulled up in the Powers Gold Cup,. I thought he had a right chance then but I think the heavy ground just killed him. Tony said he was a lot happier on this ground. The fact that he won over three miles opens up the whole thing. He could do anything he wants now. He has plenty of pace for shorter but the pace over three miles suits his jumping. Probably the better ground is the key to him. We'll look forward to good ground races.

We were delighted with the way he jumped today and it opens up a lot of options for him now. Willie and Ruby will have to discuss as to where to go next but he's progressing well.

Kempes may have been a bit fortunate at the final fence but his performance was more encouraging, despite the ground not being to his liking.

It's great he got his jumping back together today. We decided to slot him in at the back and let him get into rhythm. I thought Dundrum had stolen it but once Ruby [Walsh] switched him out he quickened up nicely. We'll keep him to the minimum trip and head to Punchestown next with him.
