Associated with John Oxx, Dermot Weld and Ken Condon in his time, as well as a stint in Japan and son of former trainer, the late Arthur, Darren Bunyan got off the mark in the training ranks courtesy of the nicely supported Grey Danube (16s earlier in the day into 7s, admittedly Further Proof, the original favourite was a non-runner, injured in transit) in thetote.com Handicap under Leigh Roche at Dundalk. There is improvement to come from him. The way the gallops have been we haven't been able to get proper work into him. He doesn't handle anything but a good surface,. We had two plans for him, either Dubai or the winter all-weather. We thought we'd keep him for the all-weather as Lingfield and here would suit him better than Meydan at the moment. He could got to Lingfield in February for the Cleeve Stakes. That's the main target at the moment.

It's great to see him back in form again. We expected a bit more the last night and it's not that he let us down. He just didn't get the luck on the night. He's made up for it there though.

He came out of his last race here very fresh and well. We'll give him a few weeks off now and he might be one for the Scurries . we'll see what the handicapper does . I've had that race in the back of my mind for him.
