After race at Punchestown Sun, 5th Feb, 2017 (1st)

I gave him a squeeze at the back of the second last and he jumped out through the bridle. He won as he liked — probably as you'd expect him to win. I'd suppose it's the old adage — the better horse you ride, the faster they go and the easier it is to ride them. He just has a huge amount of natural ability — he's a pleasure to ride. You don't have to do anything on him — you just have to sit there. He's looking himself. If he wants to go in he goes in and if he wants to stand out he stands out. You're only tactically riding the race — the jumping is up to him. That's the way it is with good horses. Cork got a great crowd when he turned up there, Leopardstown the same and here today. He's a wonderful horse and it's great to see people coming out to watch him. I'm relieved that's over. He's probably not showed anything that he hasn't showed us before.

He came back and did it well (at Cork), except for that little bit of a scare at the third-last. What he's done already and the potential he shows - he looks like he has a huge career in front of him and we just want to keep him sound and on an even keel. Hopefully he has a lot more to give us.

It was extraordinary last season, winning five Grade Ones - it was blemish-free,. He's got a lot to live up to, but we obviously think an awful lot of him. This is his first run out of novice company and that is always a little worry as you just never quite know, and this is a competitive race - it's by no means a walkover. He's got to give Gilgamboa 8lb and officially he is only rated 10lb better than him, and Gilgamboa has had a run and we haven't. He's ready to start off, but he will certainly come on for it. We'll be disappointed if he can't continue his winning ways, but you just don't know until they step out of novice company.

That's one of the best thrills that I've ever had; he was magnificent. He was clever at the last, and put in a short one whereas at Navan he went long at the last. He was just idling in front. He covers so much ground that you don't think you are going that quick. He's like a Ferrari!
