John Murphy's Newmill bounced back to form to win his first race for nearly three years in the Kinloch Brae Chase at Thurles.
The 12-year-old's finest hour came in the 2006 Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham but he had been winless since the Red Mills Hurdle in February 2007.
However, Eddie Power stole a march on his rivals at halfway and kicked clear, an advantage the favourite Snowy Morning could never claw back.
"He's been in good form all year but I didn't think he would go in that ground. I walked it and thought it was very gluey," said Murphy.
"Eddie was outstanding on him. He didn't think there was much pace on so decided to make it a bit of a gallop.
"He rides him at home and knew he was fit. He settles better nowadays.
"He's in great form and very sound so there's no reason to put him out in a field anyway."
Davy Russell dominated the rest of the card with a treble, highlighted by the win of Tally Em Up in the Septimus Coolmore NH Sires EBF Mares Novice Chase.
"I'm thrilled to bits. She's a way better chaser than she was over hurdles," said winning trainer Philip Rothwell.
"She always found one too good over hurdles and just couldn't get black-type.
"Davy was amazing on her. I was worried she wouldn't get the trip in the ground and with a penalty.
"I think there is a good mares' novice for her in Uttoxeter and we'll take it easy for a couple of weeks until then. My horses are flying at the moment."
Russell was also on the mark with Paul Nolan's debutante Politeo in the Moycarkey Hurdle and Cool Dude Luke who provided Charlie Swan with his first winner of 2010 in the INH Stallion Owners EBF Novice Hurdle.
