Review curragh 20th Aug Rostropovich got up in the final strides to give Aidan O'Brien his 11th winner of the Group Two Galileo Irish EBF Futurity Stakes at the Curragh.The 11-8 favourite had to work really hard and looked to be struggling behind stablemate Coat OF Arms in the final furlong.Ryan Moore found a willing partner in Rostropovich, though, getting up close home to win by a short-head, with fellow O'Brien runner Berkeley Square making it a one-two-three for the Ballydoyle team.O'Brien made it a big-race double when Magical made all to land the Breast Cancer Research Debutante Stakes.Donnacha O'Brien was happy to take up the running and never looked back despite being the outsider of the O'Brien trio, keeping up a remorseless gallop to beat stablemate Happily by a length and a quarter.Ger Lyons and Colin Keane secured a double when Treasuring showed abundant speed to land the Qatar Racing And Equestrian Club Curragh Stakes.Always to the fore in the five furlong Group Three, the 3-1 chance was unstoppable and came home half a length in front of Goodthingstaketime.The well-backed Gobi Desert got off the mark at the first attempt in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.The 3-1 favourite came between horses in the final two furlongs under Colin Keane and stayed on well to beat Threeandfourpence by half a length.Shamreen ran out an impressive winner of the Qatar Airways Royal Whip Stakes.Pat Smullen tracked the leader Massif Central early on in the Group Three test, and Dermot Weld's 11-4 chance soon put the race to bed in the straight, beating the pacesetter by three and a quarter lengths.Joseph O'Brien's Detailed (5-2 favourite) eased to victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap.Pat Flynn's Storm Ranger (7-1) landed the Derek O'Sullivan Memorial Apprentice Handicap under Denis Linehan, while the Breast Cancer Research Handicap went to Donal Kinsella's Handsome Maverick (28-1) under NIall McCullagh.
