Workforce looks poised for a second crack at the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes after delighting connections in a gallop at Newmarket.
Last season's Investec Derby and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner was a big flop behind his stablemate Harbinger at Ascot last July.
But the Khalid Abdullah-owned colt looked ready for the chance to redeem himself on Saturday in the midsummer showpiece, sponsored by Betfair, on the evidence of this workout when he was partnered by his big-race jockey Ryan Moore.
The four-year-old, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, worked on Racecourse Side with two lead horses, The Fonz and Confront.
The Fonz made the early pace, only to be taken by Confront, but when Moore asked Workforce to quicken the response was immediate and the colt readily went three lengths clear still on the bridle.
Both trainer and jockey were all smiles afterwards.
Bookmakers Stan James.com were also suitably impressed and cut Workforce to 3-1, from 7-2, for the King George.
