Wish secures listed win in style Indian Wish ran out a convincing winner of the Victor McCalmont Stakes on her second outing for Joseph O'Brien at Gowran Park this evening. The daughter of The Grey Gatsby had run well to finish fourth in a conditions race at Tipperary on her first start for the yard 13 days ago and stepped forward nicely from that outing. Declan McDonogh tracked the leaders on the 12/1 shot, in the nine-furlong contest. and she challenged on the stand's side rail a furlong-and-a-half from home. The grey got to the front passing the furlong pole and asserted in the closing stages, running out a cosy two-and-a-half length winner at the line from 80/1 shot Angels Wrath. O’Brien said:- “She got a bit tired in Tipperary but it was still a nice run. “She had form over today’s trip in France and Declan gave her a lovely ride and she quickened up well. I’m delighted to win a Stakes race with her for Sean and Annette (Kelly). “She’ll probably race over a mile or nine furlongs and I don’t know if she has to go much further than that. She’ll probably go for a Group 3 next.” (Quotes by Alan Magee)
