Famous Name justified long odds-on favouritism (2/13) when readily making a winning seasonal reappearance at Leopardstown today, in the Listed Heritage Stakes.
Ridden by Pat Smullen, the son of Dansili moved to the front over a furlong out before staying on strongly for a comfortable win over Finicius
Afterwards winning trainer Dermot Weld stated “Famous Name is a model of consistency around here and has now won six Stakes races at Leopardstown. He did it today as expected and Pat said he took a blow a furlong out so should improve from today’s run.”
“He is a joy to train and the aim for this year is to win a Group 1 with him. I’ll speak to Lord Grimthorpe (owner Kahlid Abdullah’s Racing Manager) before making a plan.”
