The Paul Deegan trained Fast In The Wind bridged a three year gap between wins at Fairyhouse today, when landing the Coral.ie Handicap under jockey Killian Leonard.
The son of Footstepsinthesand gained his only previous win on debut in a Curragh maiden in April 2013 and while unsuccessful in 28 following attempts, today scored a half length win over Deeds Not Words
Following the win a relieved Deeegan quipped “I hate it when the handicapper is right! We have been giving out to him for two years for putting him up and he's not winning out of turn and was due one.
“He did it well today, he was genuine, had every chance to get out of it but he didn't.
"Killian (Leonard) was brilliant on him, in around the rail and it was a great ride. He picked up well and put his head down and ran all the way to the line.
"We always thought if he could get his head in front he might go in again and his confidence is coming back. That's his ground and that's his trip and if we win one more before the end of the year it would be great."
