As if Willie Mullins hadn’t claimed enough of Britain’s prize money, with 10 winners at the Cheltenham Festival last week, the County Carlow-based trainer is set to send one runner over to Haydock on Wednesday.

Here we take a close look at the horse in question’s chances and consider who the main danger could be.

Patrick Mullins heads over to take the ride and he’ll be looking to add to his tally of 10 winners from his 27 races in Britain so far this season. This will be just his second ride at the track and his first winner if Jarrive De Mee does the business.

It’s noted that Willie Mullins is 0/8 at Haydock so far but this horse has been placed in this race for a reason and it would be no surprise if he was to get off the mark here. The son of Authorized has done little wrong up to this point and is seeking to maintain his unbeaten record over hurdles.

This isn’t the first time that the six-year-old comes over to Britain, as he battled back to win a novice hurdle under a penalty at Catterick last time out. He might need to progress again but that’s by no means out of the question.

Winning the second of his two Irish points, he subsequently switched hands for £68,000 and ran out a comfortable winner on his first start over hurdles at Thurles in November. Many of the yard’s runners were needing their first outings at the time so it’s a big compliment that he won that day.

Unlikely to have it all his own way, the 129-rated Starcrossed Lover is likely to provide some stiff competition. Things didn’t go to plan for him in Grade 2 company last time out but he won impressively under a penalty at Hereford before that and is arguably the one to beat.
