He might need to progress again but that’s by no means out of the question. Winning the second of his two Irish points, he subsequently switched hands for £68,000 and ran out a comfortable winner on his first start over hurdles at Thurles in November. Many of the yard’s runners were needing their first outings at the time so it’s a big compliment that he won that day. Unlikely to have it all his own way, the 129-rated Starcrossed Lover is likely to provide some stiff competition. Things didn’t go to plan for him in Grade 2 company last time out but he won impressively under a penalty at Hereford before that and is arguably the one to beat.
