Who's That benefitted from a well judged Mark Enright ride to cause a 20/1 upset in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Mares Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown today, providing both her trainer Liam Cusack and owner David Cornwall with welcome tonics.
Enright produced the daughter of Kalanisi with her winning challenge after the last and the pair eventually beat Misty Lady by a length and a quarter.
Who's That was recording her first win at the 13th start and afterwards Cusack stated "her two runs this year were in deep ground and we were hoping the drier ground today would be a help and she was just beaten here last year."
"She got stopped a bit before the straight but when she got out she stayed on very well.
"I've had five or six winners this year and she's been beating them all at home so I would have been very disappointed not to have won with her.
"It's great for the owner (David Cornwall) who hasn't been very well; he bred her and has been a great patron.
"I've been sticking to these mares handicap hurdles and this is a serious pot to win."
Former jumps jockey Cusack knows all about adversity and dangers and added "I'm just back from fracturing my pelvis in two places and puncturing my lung in a schooling fall. Us small trainers have to do plenty of roles like drive the box and ride work.
"The mare I was riding is a good jumper but just over-jumped and came down on top of me. She went on to win on her first run in a point-to-point - I suffered but she learned!"
