Division two of the Mullingar Handicap Hurdle at Kilbeggan saw Where’s Bunny (8s into 9/2 second favourite) land a gamble to provide successful handler Noel Dooly with a first win since 2018.
With most recent form figures of ‘u0u,’ the winner was supported down from fancy prices earlier, although of course there were several non-runners.
Jordan Gainford did the steering on Where’s Bunny, and she finished with a real rattle to get up and beat hot favourite Secret Sea and Maria Francesca by a neck and half a length.
“She has always worked well at home and was placed in three maiden hurdles last year but didn’t put it together this year. She’s been unlucky unseating a few times,” said Dooly.
“They went an unmerciful gallop and it suited her as she needs to be dropped out. She had something to aim at after the second last which was a big help.
“She needs that fast ground.”
A.W. Short, rider of Thekeyisnottopanic trained by C.W.J. Farrell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly.
