Whelan completes Dundalk treble with O'Brien's Cautious Approach Ronan Whelan bagged a treble at Dundalk today as he steered the Richard O'Brien trained, 66 rated Cautious Approach to win the Coral Double Your Winnings Maiden. Cautious Approach was the second of tonight's maiden winners by stallion Dawn Approach, following Thrifty One's race-earlier win, and following the race Co Limerick based trainer O'Brien reported “it's our first winner of the year so it's great and it felt like our season was starting today. “She was one of the ones at the start of the year that we were hoping would wins races and she's gone and done it. “She had a couple of bits of work done and she was ready to start. It wasn't a great race and she was able to win it and Ronan was terrific on her.” Jockey Whelan, who made the breakthrough at Group 1 level last season with Skitter Scatter, was earlier successful on Annabelle Rock and Bellick.
