Whatdoyawanttoknow a 66-1 winner for Brouder Whatdoyawanttoknow caused a 66/1 shock in the Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey Maiden Hurdle at Kilbeggan. Ridden by Gearoid Brouder, the Mary Ellen Doyle trained five-year-old was difficult to fancy on form. Well beaten on his only point-to-point run, he was tailed off on his hurdling debut at Punchestown in May. Held up towards the rear early on, Brouder was hard at work at the third last as his mount struggled in ninth place. To the credit of both horse and rider, they began to make ground approaching two out and took up the running on the run to the last. From there, it was always in safe keeping as the Listowel man pushed his charge out for a surprise victory. “I've rode him work and he works like a real good horse,” said Brouder. “He went to Punchestown the last day and I was told to bounce out good and smart. He was very green so I said I'd keep him up there but he just didn't have a clue how to gallop or jump. “Even today he was a big baby, hanging slightly to the left, and when he got to the front he didn't know what to do. “There is plenty of improvement. When they said to me today to take my time I knew I'd have a right chance. “He's a fine big strong horse and he could be anything as he's so green.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
