Wexford-worker enjoying summer Season Enniscorthy based trainer Thomas James knows Wexford racecourse better than most and today recorded his second winner in as many months at the venue when his sprightly 11 year old Soul Season landed the Oulart Handicap Hurdle under regular jockey James O’Sullivan. O’Sullivan registered his first winner as a professional jockey on the veteran gelding on May 6 and doubled his score today, as the pair scored a two lengths win over Kiln Rock. Afterwards trainer James revealed “we have a plant hire business and did all the work on the track, including the track extension. I've been trying to win races here for years and I've got two now so I'm happy with that!“ He added “he got boxed in the last day and we felt we were a little bit unlucky, but the winner did win well in fairness to him. We only got raised two pounds for that and we thought we weren't going too bad with that. "We were just a bit worried about the ground because he real likes good ground and it was soft enough for him. We knew he'd stay the two and half miles, he is a good horse and is well-bred and very consistent. Hopefully he’ll stay sound and we'll keep him on the go. If there is another race here for him we’ll be back but I wouldn't be afraid to go anywhere with him.” By Tom Weekes, quotes from Donal Murphy
