Well-backed Triomphe lands Naas finale There were royally flip-flopping favourites for Naas' concluding five-runner Christopher Dunne Memorial Bumper today as debutante Kap De Triomphe (8/13f) justified heavy support to win for trainer Pat Doyle and jockey Pa King. Just one of the runners Rose Boum had previously raced, with the race being a minefield for bookmakers as four newcomers lined-up. Trainer Gordon Elliott's Buckaway Freddie was the 4/7 morning favourite but returned an easy-to-back 2/1 chance and, in the race, had no answers once Kap De Triomphe (morning 2/1, returned 8/13f) quickened to beat him by 3.25 lengths. Rose Boum finished third, with unconsidered newcomers Lion City and Kellys Grove completing in fourth and fifth. The winner carries the colours of Doyle's wife Mary and following the race jockey King reported “Kap De Triomphe is a nice horse and there is plenty of improvement in him. He’s just learning on the job there today. “It was actually hard enough to pull him up so I’d plenty of horse left. He’s got a good future.” Quotes from Alan Magee
