The Tony Martin trained Redera ran out a convincing winner of the feature race at Dundalk this afternoon, the Boylesports.com Download Our App Handicap.
Ridden by Wayne Lordan, the seven-year-old son of Chevalier was well-supported on-course going from an opening show of 13/2 into 9/2 at the off.
Settled towards the rear, the now seven time winner, closed on the leaders entering the straight and he travelled strongly from over two furlongs out.
He hit the front with a furlong and a half left to race and he drew clear inside the final furlong to score by three lengths. Solo Performer who was settled in last, kept on well to take second at 14/1 under Connor King for Harry Rogers, while Fishers Bridge was three and a quarter lengths back in third under Shane Foley for Noel Meade at 16/1. Justification was sent off the 11/8 favourite for Aidan & Joseph O’Brien, but he could only manage a disappointing fourth, six and a half lengths back.
Tony Martin said afterwards: "That’s great for the little horse. He done his pelvis and everything but he keeps coming back.
"He is real honest and genuine and he is paying his way.
"He is owned by a couple of great lads from Dublin, Dave Fields and John Toohy (the Peter William Partnership).
"I doubt he will go to Galway. He disappointed there before and I think that was due to his pelvis so we will keep him to level tracks like Cork and Killarney.
"He will mix it between the flat and jumps now."
