Expanding Universe secured a double at Fairyhouse for trainer Dermot Weld when running out a cosy winner of the bumper.
Robbie McNamara produced his mount to lead at the furlong pole and he pulled clear in the closing stages. Curley Bill looked set to claim front-runner Notorious Villain in the straight but McNamara came between the pair to hit the front.
The Galileo gelding was soon in control and went on to score by three-and-a-half lengths from Curley Bill.
The winner had been fourth on his sole start in a Leopardstown bumper last Christmas and the Dr Lambe-owned gelding was sent off the 7/4 favourite for today's contest.
"He stays at it well and he's got a good attitude. I think he'll make a nice hurdler," said McNamara afterwards.
Weld had also been on the mark earlier when Waaheb made a winning return in the conditions hurdle.
