The Charles Byrnes-trained On Your Way got up late on to land the spoils in the novice handicap hurdle at Limerick.

6/5 favourite The Dancing Tree inherited the lead when the reluctant Ages Of Man pulled himself up in front at halfway in the two-miler.

The eventual winner was a big eye-catcher travelling strongly turning for home and came to challenge at the second last under Sean O’Keeffe.

The Dancing Tree was asked for an effort going to the last and got first run on his rival but On Your Way ground him down in the closing stages to record a head success at odds of 15/8.

On Your Way was reverting to hurdles having been fourth over fences at Cork 11 days ago.

Byrnes said:- "I had intended staying over fences after his run at Cork the last day but when I was making entries, I saw there was only a small entry for this so stuck him in.

"He ran away with Philip here during Christmas and tried to do the same today but Sean (O'Keeffe) seems to be able to handle him and manage him better. Philip has had bad falls from him, so he is Sean's ride if he wants him.

"He'll run in whatever pops up next."
