Walkers Point completes full-set of jumps wins It has been a long road to the full-set of bumper/hurdle/chase wins for Walkers Point (16/1) and today, at Tipperary, the Sean McParlan trained gelding finally completed the feat in the opening division of the Golden Handicap Chase. Ridden by Luke Dempsey, the nine year old gelding raced away from his rivals on the outer and in the home straight stayed on well for a two and three parts of a length win over Motcomb Street. Walkers Point won a Cork bumper in August 2015 but waited five years to win his maiden hurdle, at Downpatrick just three months ago. Today the son of Golan registered a third win, and his first over fences and afterwards trainer McParlan revealed “that's unbelievable — I can't believe he has done it! “Twice he was threatening to finish up but then he runs half-decent, luckily enough - there you are so it's great!” Newry based McParlan, father of Cheltenham-festival winning jockey Noel, added “I definitely wasn't expecting that as he has all the ability in the world but just doesn't put it in. When horses get in around him he seems to put on the brakes and stop. It wasn't a great race but we don't care. “It took three and a half hours to come down but that'll make the journey home shorter.”
