Walk Away looked a nice prospect when making a winning 'track' debut in the INH Stallion Owners EBF Maiden Hurdle at Thurles this afternoon.
The Black Sam Bellamy gelding was making his first outing for Henry de Bromhead and owners Robcour having been purchased for £130,000 after winning a Ballindenisk point-to-point in December.
He was well supported on his racecourse bow this afternoon in the two-mile-six contest, returning the 13/8 favourite having been 7/2 this morning.
Robbie Power tracked the leaders on his mount before letting him jump into the lead two from home.
The six-year-old stretched clear before the final flight to record a nine-length success over Final List
"He is a gorgeous looking horse and we bought him before Christmas. He seems a lovely young horse and won his point to point in Ballindenisk,” said de Bromhead.
"He had worked nicely since we got him and I'm delighted he went and did that.
“He is a real chaser in the making and will have a couple of more runs over hurdles now and will hopefully go chasing next year.
"There is a 2m and a 2m4f novice at Fairyhouse but there's a three mile novice handicap there on March 22nd or else he could go for one of the staying novice hurdles at Punchestown as I'd say he's a real staying type of fellow."
