David Wachman notched a quick double at Limerick this afternoon when Back On Top claimed the fillies maiden under Fran Berry.
There was a battle for the lead early on, in the mile contest, with three soon disputing at the head of affairs. The eventual winner was pressed by Super Focus and Creggs Pipes
Wachman's charge, in the JP McManus colours, edged ahead from the two pole and kept on well inside the final furlong as Ballydoyle newcomer Kissed By Angels finished well to claim second.
The winner, a solid 11/8 shot, got home by a length from the 6/4 second choice.
Back On Top was having her third career start having been placed on both previous outings last season.
She was third to classy duo Found (won Prix Marcel Boussac) and Together Forever (won Fillies Mile) at the Curragh on her second start last August.
"She had nice form last year and finished behind two Group 1 winners at The Curragh and was entitled to win her maiden," said Wachman.
"She'll step up to Stakes races now. Things are going well for us - normally it's May time before we have winners so we're a week ahead of schedule!"
