Wachman 1, 2 as Mironica impresses David Wachman saddled a one, two in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Naas this evening with newcomer Mironica (7/2jf) under Billy Lee getting the better of fellow debutant True Verdict. Lottie Dod for Charles O’Brien and Fran Berry made the early running but she could offer no more when headed by the winner who made smooth headway to hit the front a furlong out. Her stable mate True Verdict (8/1) under Seamie Heffernan ran on well to move into second inside the final furlong but never looked like passing Mironica who went on to score by half a length. The duo went two and a half lengths clear of the third horse who was the other 7/2 joint favourite Teoirim for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning. Interestingly Maybe won this race last year on her debut in impressive fashion and it would be no surprise if the winner turned out as good as her. Winning trainer David Wachman said afterwards: "They are two smart fillies. We will see how they come out of this and how they progress. They have plenty of options. "Billy gave the winner a lovely ride, nice and gentle and Seamie did the same. They are two nice fillies going forward. "The ground was quick enough for the winner but the other one seems to go on anything. The winner travelled well, got there too soon but had plenty left." Donal Murphy & Gary Carson
