The View Restaurant At Dundalk Fillies Maiden didn’t look the strongest race on paper but it produced an exciting finish with Vierson just getting up in the final stride at Dundalk.
The well backed 10/11 favourite, who was available at 7/2 overnight and supported in from 7/4 on track, had a bit to do as chief market rival Quatrain attempted to make all.
However, Jamie Powell’s mount dug deep inside the final 150 yards and just snatched the spoils on the line by a nose. Bahama Bear was a length and a half back in third.
Winning trainer Ciaran Murphy said, "We thought plenty of her when we bought her and she probably took a bit of time.
"We sort of had this race in mind over the winter and we gave her a break. We came back fresh and Jamie was excellent on her and the mare ran to the line.
"Very pleased with that performance and fair play to the team.
"I can't see why we wouldn't come back here again, maybe even step her up to a mile and a-quarter. Jamie said she loved the surface.
"I think she is going to go the right way now, hopefully. I don't know where she will end up, but she is a big, scopey filly.
"She wants a sound surface even though she has big feet."
