Viareggio fourth choice in the market at 9/1, came home in front in the Snow Fairy Fillies' Stakes.
The 97-rated daughter of Caravaggio, placed in Listed races at Goodwood and Longchamp earlier in the summer, was settled in fourth by Shane Foley and improved to dispute the lead with Magic Chegaga a furlong and-a-half out. After hitting the front inside the final furlong, the winner stayed on well to account for that rival by two and a quarter lengths.
Winning trainer Jessica Harrington said of the Alpha Racing-owned winner : “It’s great to get that big blacktype.
“I’m not sure where she will go next but she’s a lovely filly and as tough as old boots.
“That’s probably her trip. A mile is too short and a mile and a quarter might just stretch her.
“She been very consistent and seems to go on any sort of ground.
“She’ll be sold at the end of the year.”
