Uranna got off the mark over fences with a cosy victory in the opening mares beginners chase at Thurles this afternoon.

The mare, a listed winner over hurdles, was making her third start over the larger obstacles and looked to be taking a drop in grade having chased home Carrigmoorna Rock at the track last month.

Ruby Walsh had the 4/7 shot to the fore throughout and she quickened away on the run-in to put the matter to bed.

The Willie Mullins-trained mare had seven-and-a-half lengths to spare over Missyspet at the line.

"She was entitled to win and ran to her form on her last run,” said Walsh afterwards. “She was unlucky then when she made a bad mistake at the second last but jumped much better today and quickened up smartly from the last."
