Twomey's Pinar Del Rio a good winner of the Curragh opener Third at Naas on debut a fortnight back Paddy Twomey’s Pinar Del Rio came forward to land the Tally Ho Stud Irish EBF (C & G) Maiden at the Curragh. The Billy Lee-ridden 2/1 scorer eventually came home a length and a quarter to the good from Thunder Eclipse, after a good duel between the pair. It was a neck then to the promising Barud in third. This was a lovely performance from the front on the part of the successful son of Havana Gold and it was no surprise to hear Twomey say post race: “It's an uncomplicated horse, he had a lovely first run and I was hoping coming here today that he might do something like that. “He's showing a lot of class and he has to step up now, whether that's running back here or going to the UK I don't know. “He's done it well today and I think he'll have no bother getting further in time. “I was very happy he did that as well as he did today. “I don't think that ground is what he's looking for, I think he wants nicer ground, so for him to do that in the ground I'm happy.” Paddy Power go 33/1 first show about Pinar Del Rio for the Coventry Stakes.
