Strong-travelling Tullyveery Lad put the Race Displays Handicap Hurdle in Gowran Park away once he popped the last.

The 9/4 favourite made steady headway on the bridle into third off the home bend.

Jack Foley asked him to close on the leaders two out and and Tullyveery Lad was soon ridden into the lead.

He moved clear by the last and jumped it with his ears pricked. The Famous Name gelding was kept up to his work to win by five lengths. Where's Bunny took second at 10/1 from 14/1 and was a length and a half in front of Dylan Oak (11/2).

“I wasn’t too sure whether I had him fit enough on his first run back after a break. He disappointed on his last run in Listowel," Ray Cody said.

“His work has always been better than what he shows on the track and even today I wasn’t convinced what he would do off the bridle.

“In fairness he picked up and he won well. I was happy with the way the ground was today as I was a bit worried about his fitness but he’ll handle softer ground.

“He’s a fun horse and I’m delighted for the owner Pat Tennyson who is a first cousin of mine.

“Jack has been very lucky for me and I think he’s a real good rider.”

The Stewards interviewed J.B. Foley, rider of Tullyveery Lad, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence J.B. Foley stated that his mount was idling badly and he had misjudged the number of times he had used his whip. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that J.B. Foley was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended J.B. Foley for one raceday.
