Zippity s name suits her running-style and the Tracey Collins trained filly landed the opening five-furlongs Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap at Dundalk today.
The four year old daughter of Zebedee has done all her racing over today's five furlongs minimum distance and today, under Gavin Ryan, got off the mark on her sixth attempt when quickening well inside the final furlong to beat runner-up Early Call by two and three parts of a length.
Afterwards trainer Collins stated “she’s exceptionally tricky but she’s always showed us that she had some ability. The guys at home have done a great job on her because it was even hard getting her to the start and getting up on her in the stalls.
“She’s that bit older and has matured an awful lot over the winter. Hopefully she’ll go on from here.
“She got an awful fright in Bellewstown when she flipped over due to no fault of her own because the hurdy-gurdies went up.
“It’s amazing when you give horses time and they come around. She was just mentally immature and she’s after growing up. Gavin gave her a lovely ride and did everything right.
“It was her first time on the surface. She also ran well in Tipperary last year on bottomless ground so she seems to go on both.
“She’s a five-furlong filly and will probably struggle to get six. The programme is there so we can aim her at something.”
