Trader takes bumper in style Rogue Trader made all for an impressive victory in the concluding bumper at Navan this afternoon. Nina Carberry kicked on in the straight on the Milan gelding to record a comprehensive 13-length winning margin over Ryback Jack. The Charlie Swan-trained gelding, sent off a 4/1 shot, had shaped with promise when seventh at the track on his only previous start back in March. Triple Island was a well-backed 2/1 favourite (7/1 in morning) but could only beat two home in the end. “We always thought he was a nice horse but he had a few little niggly problems,” said Swan. “He looks more like a chaser than a hurdler but he'll go for a maiden hurdle next. “I don't think ground will matter to him. He's a very good mover and is clear in his wind. I'd say he wouldn't mind deep ground. “He's a real staying type of horse. He'll probably have a couple of runs over hurdles before going chasing next year.”
