Townend continues hot streak at Limerick There was a third winner of the session at Limerick for Paul Townend, and a second for Willie Mullins, when Daisy's Gift bounced back from a fall last time to register an important victory in the Grade 2 Charleville Cheese European Breeders Fund Mares Novice Chase. Mullins and Townend combined for an earlier win with Kate Appleby Shoes. Prior to this event the former champion jockey doubled his score on Michael Hourigan's Donegal Tuesday. In the day's feature favourite Slowmotion shaped as the most likely winner up the straight. However Daisy's Gift wasn't for passing and she crossed the line with a length and a half in hand. "The luck is in! The key with her was to get her jumping and she quickened well off the bend," explained Townend. "She was a bit slow at the first couple but once she warmed up to it she got her confidence back and was away. She picked up lovely when she got the gap on the inside." R.M. Power, rider of Not For Burning, trained by Mrs Denise Foster, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not act on the heavy ground. (TW & EM)
