Jockey Tom Madden gained a first blacktype win at Navan today as his mount Silence Please led home a 1-2 for trainer Jessica Harrington in the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Salsabil Stakes.
Madden, understudy to Harrington's first-choice jockey Shane Foley, was chasing the yard's eventual runner-up One Voice on Silence Please inside the final furlong and the pair finished with a flourish to gain success at the line, scoring by a nose.
Afterwards Kate Harrington, representing her mother, mentioned “we knew on their homework that there was very little between them and it was just unfortunate that one of them had to get beat.
“Silence Please did very well over the winter. On ratings you'd have thought she had a bit to do but we knew from her homework (that she had improved). She only ever goes through the motions at home.
“It'll be interesting to see where she goes now. When she steps up to a mile-and-a-half I think you'll see a better filly again.
“She's in the Irish Oaks and she could go there. One Voice got an entry for the Ribblesdale next week.”
