Tipped Up Harry produced a 20/1 shock in the two mile handicap hurdle at Wexford for Denise Foster and Adrian Heskin when winning by three lengths after always racing prominently.
The six-year-old was beaten 57 lengths and 55 lengths at Kilbeggan and Tipperary respectively, but is not without talent as trainer Denise Foster confirmed afterwards.
“He works really well at home and nothing beats him. That was a big surprise today as he’s been very frustrating as he has not been getting home. Really he’s a bit mad,” she said.
“At Fairyhouse he withdrawn in the parade ring as he got so hyper he bled. We’ve been trying to get him to settle and it hasn’t been working so I told Adrian to let him off in front.
“The owner/breeder Jules Sigler is from Canada. He also has horses with Alan King. I met him by chance at Punchestown when he was sitting beside me at a table.
“I’ve trained a number of the family for them including Unanswered who won a couple of point-to-points.”
The winner paid 52.5/1 on the Tote for a win and the place dividend was 11.50 euro.
Second reserve Mount Welcome stayed on well under Barry Geraghty for second place at 9/1, but never looked like reeling in the winner. Offside Rule (7/1) and Bulletproof (11/1 from 20/1 in the morning) completed the placings in the 16-runner contest. Blaze Of Fire was sent off the 9/4 favourite (from an opening 100/30 in the ring), but finished sixth. Marshim took a crashing fall at the second last when racing third.
