Tikket proves smart in bumper Some Tikket made all for a cosy victory in the concluding bumper at Navan this afternoon. Dermot Weld's charge travelled supremely well at the head of affairs and quickened smartly approaching the final furlong to settle matters. 7/2 favourite Patanne (5/1 in morning) emerged as a danger in the straight, also travelling well, but couldn't live with the Tikkanen gelding in the closing stages as he posted a cosy two-and-three-quarter length success. The winner had run out on his debut last May when leading at Punchestown, veering sharply left turning for home and going out past a marker. He had since been bought out of Brian Hamilton's yard and joined Weld over the Christmas period. He proved easy to back, trading at 7/4 in the morning and returning a 4/1 shot after opening at 10/3 on course. “He did what I thought he would do and he got a confident ride from Robbie. They were just cantering along and the best place to be was in front,” said Weld. “He'll probably go for a maiden hurdle now. He's been with me since around Christmas time. I've always thought he'd want good ground and he's a very nice horse in the making. “We'll probably stay going left-handed until we get to know more about him.” (Additional reporting by Alan Magee)
