Three tips for Thurles on Thursday Thurles hosts a seven-race card in Ireland on Thursday. The action kicks off at 1.25 and runs through to the finale at 4.55 and we have provided selections and analysis for three of the races on Thursday’s card. Selections: 15.10 Thurles - Pour Les Filles @ SP 15.45 Thurles - Jacob’s Ladder @ SP 16.20 Thurles - Dalmatic @ SP 15.10 Thurles - Pour Les Filles Gordon Elliott’s Pour Les Filles appears to have found an ideal opportunity to get off the mark. The gelded son of Pour Moi hasn't been the easiest to train, having been restricted to four starts since winning a bumper on his debut for connections in December 2022. He has come up short in three previous attempts in maiden hurdles, however, this looks the weakest of those contests. He also has the benefit of a recent run having been narrowly denied by a race fit rival at Down Royal last month. That effort came over an extended 2m trip and he should relish the return to 2m 4f with his future possibility lying over even further for this former point winner. Good ground holds no fears and this lightly raced seven-year-old can get off the mark here, whale he still has time to fulfil the early promise shown in bumpers. Youlita is one to watch in the market making his debut for Charles Byrnes, he shaped quite well in his sole run in a bumper and won his point on a sound surface. 15.45 - Jacob’s Ladder A quickfire double could be in order for Elliott with Jacob’s Ladder having excellent claims in the rated novice hurdle. He shaped better than the distance beaten on his debut over hurdles in December, finishing behind some rivals with Grade 1 aspirations. He duly stepped forward from that effort to break his maiden at Naas, getting the better of the short-priced favourite Forty Coats. That form reads well given that Forty Coats had only been beaten by the classy Wingmen and James’s Gate in two previous attempts in maidens. Further improvement will be required if he is to meet his Cheltenham Festival entries, but he looks to have enough ability to land this contest with Josh Williamson claiming a useful 7lb. 16.20 Thurles - Dalmatic At bigger odds Dalmatic makes some each-way appeal in the 2m6f handicap hurdle, having shown his first real signs of ability last time. The gelded son of Australia stepped forward from his seasonal debut when pulling clear of the remainder in third, behind two rivals that have been competitive from higher marks in the past. That was just his third start in a handicap and he is entitled to be in the mix from his lowly rating, if building on that latest effort. He shaped as if he is worth a go at this longer trip and, while he handled heavy ground last time, his flat pedigree suggests he should be happy on this sounder surface.
