Three Card Brag enters Grand National picture Three Card Brag has earned a crack at the Randox Grand National after completing a treble on the day for Gordon Elliott in the QuinnBet Beginners Chase at Navan. The Jet Away gelding kept good company over fences last season filling the runner-up spot behind Corbetts Cross and Monty’s Star and only weakened in the straight when tackling handicap company last time in the valuable Paddy Power Chase at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting. Danny Gilligan’s mount was prominent throughout and the 3/1 shot put in a solid round of jumping, keeping on well from the last to beat Kinturk Kalanisi by two and three-quarter lengths with Captain Cody just a nose further back in third. Elliott was also on the mark earlier on the card with Jacob’s Ladder (6/1) and Music Of Tara (12/1). Elliott said, "I'm very happy with him. He's a good horse on his day. "He's had a few niggly problems and just a few things didn't work out for him. I imagine we will probably head straight on for an English National. "I'm not saying he won't (have a run before), but I won't kill him - I might go there fresh. He's a good staying horse and he's always a good jumper. "It is grand he put his head in front today. He had every chance to fold the whole way up the line and he galloped the whole way." Paddy Power and Betfair have introduced Three Card Brag at 33/1 for the Grand National.
