Legacy Thor justified favourtism in the concluding bumper at Downpatrick this evening when sticking on to secure success in the two-mile-one contest.
The 2/1 market leader travelled well to lead over two furlongs from home, under Ben Crawford, and found plenty in closing stages to get the job done.
The Gold Well gelding, trained by the rider's brother Stuart, kept on up the hill to secure a five-length length success over long-time leader Gotthenod
Legacy Thor had been second on his last visit to the course when chasing home Multifactorial in March.
Stuart Crawford said: "He ran well the last day and he has improved for better ground.
"He'll get a wee bit of a break now and go over hurdles at the end of the summer.
"He had a nice run the first day in Navan.
"He likes a trip and he jumps well. He would be a three parts brother to Legacy Gold so Chris (Johnson) will have a bit of fun with him. He's a nice horse to go novice hurdling."
