The John Power-owned Whisper Rock ridden by his son Kevin, took the concluding Horse And Jockey Mares INH Flat Race for the Philip Fenton yard and it went very much as the market suggested it might as the daughter of Presenting went off13/8 favourite from an opening price of 9/4.
Whisper Rock had experience and strong form to her name coming in here and she made her ground from mid-division in the final half mile. The attractive six-year-old led from a furlong and a half out and she kept on well in the final furlong to beat the pace-setting Oneforlill by four and a half lengths.
Fenton said: "She'll make a nice broodmare. She handled the ground well there considering that she's by Presenting.
"She has a real chaser's pedigree and she comes from a Jim Dreaper family.
"Next she'll go for a mares maiden hurdle at Limerick (on St Patrick's weekend)." (AM & EM)
