The Dazzer beats The Insider © Photo Healy Racing
Colin Keane rejoined Billy Lee at the top of the jockeys' table when The Dazzer won the three-year-old handicap over a mile.
The 5/1 favourite tracked the leaders and went second early in the straight. The Insider was making the beat of his way home but Keane drove his mount past that one just inside the furlong marker and the Tough As Nails gelding kept on well for a hard-fought success.
The Insider gave his all and went down by only a neck with Breezy Zoff and Palais D'elysee completing the frame.
The Dazzer was stepping up in trip after making the frame in his first two handicap starts at Roscommon and Sligo.
Winning trainer Pat Martin said: "We just about got away with the ground as he is a heavy set horse and would appreciate a bit more ease in the ground.
“Colin gave him a good ride and got the job done.
“I’m delighted for the owner Peter Mooney who is a former trainer and a lovely man to train for.
“We’ll probably give him a break now as he needs an ease in the ground.”
