The Broghie Man heads the weights for the 50,000 euro TRI Equestrian Superstore Handicap at the Curragh this evening.
Adrian Keatley ’s sprinter made a successful start to the campaign in a Listed contest at Navan in April, but could only finish fifth when stepped up to Group Three level for the Lacken Stakes at Naas last month.
He must concede weight to each of his 12 rivals on his return to handicap company, but must nevertheless be considered a major contender in the hands of veteran French jockey Gerald Mosse.
Other contenders include Blue Uluru an impressive winner at Navan three weeks ago for Ger Lyons, and the Denis Foster-trained Julia’s Magic, who also won on the same Navan card.
There is a total prize fund of 26,000 euro up for grabs Paddy Power Irish EBF Median Auction Race.
A field of seven juveniles have been declared, with four of them having already visited the winner’s enclosure this spring.
Having made a successful debut over this course and distance, Jessica Harrington’s Dandys Ocean is of particular interest. She could only finish fourth of five runners on her next start in the Rochestown Stakes, but that tough assignment came only nine days after her introduction and she could well be better than that.
Eddie Lynam ’s Soffia will be well fancied to make a winning reappearance in the TRM Excellence In Equine Nutrition Maiden, having shaped with abundant promise twice last term.
