The admirably consistent Teddy Boy registered a fifth career win when staying on strongly under James Ryan to land the Coast To Curragh Cycle On August 26th Apprentice Handicap at Naas.
Slightly unlucky in running when beaten just a head under the same rider at Cork last time, the pair gained some compensation by taking the main prize this afternoon.
Held up as per usual, the eight-year-old moved closer to the leaders over a furlong out and came with a well timed run to head the pace setting Jazzy Danger inside the final furlong.
The latter was passed for second by At Long Last but kept on to hold third place for trainer Willie Martin and jockey Conor Stone-Walsh.
“He did it really well. We jumped out and got a lovely position and I was always comfortable,” said James Ryan.
“I thought for a stride or two that the horse in front had got away from us but in fairness as we were getting near the line I was staying on well. He hit the line well and I'm delighted.
“That last 150 yards is fair stiff here and I saved a bit to the end. When I was getting close I knew I'd be able to power on.
“He's been a great servant to the Lynams and I can't thank them enough for the ride. Day in and day out he puts his heart out there and I'm delighted he's got his head back in front.”
