Tasmanian Girl came from a good bit back to annex the Killinan Handicap Hurdle in Thurles.

Cian Quirke had her her widest of all as the pair made progress between the final two flights.

She jumped the last in second and soon took aim at Cowper Hall on the run-in. The Australia mare rolled home best to claim the leader in the closing stages and won going away by two and a-quarter lengths at 40/1. Navy Waves (20/1) got up for second from the 9/4 favourite Cowper Hall. Each-way punters lifted a dividend from another big-priced horse, Ricky Langford in fourth at 40/1.

Aengus King said: "We bought her privately for only a couple of grand to get Anthony's (O'Gorman, friend) daughter Jessica going again, so we weren't thinking we'd win a load of races with her although we can't believe this!

"It was a complete surprise and, while we knew she was in good shape, she is only average.

"She finished second here in November, lively ground is key to her and Cian gave her a serious ride."
