The debut victory of Tasiteasai in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Flat Race was little surprise as the Sageburg filly scored by three and a quarter lengths under Patrick Mullins.
It was her starting price of 6/4, and the fact that she didn’t go off favourite, which was unexpected as she drifted out from 4/5 on the show. Kilbarry Chianti had been the one for money this morning and in the end was sent off market leader at 5/4 but had to settle for third place.
The winner was kept wide in search of better ground and, having struck the front inside the final quarter mile, asserted in the closing stages with Angelsworknovrtime running a big race to take second at 50/1.
This was Patrick Mullins’ fourth successive winner in bumpers over the last week and a half, with this being the only one at odds-against.
Winning trainer Willie Mullins said: "She is a nicely bred filly (out of four-time winner Tasitiocht who is a half-sister to Ballymore winner City Island) and I suppose her pedigree just came out in the end.
"She was very green going by the stands the first time. I didn't talk to Patrick yet but once she got a bit of daylight up against the hedge she seemed to find another gear.
"I'm hoping she will improve. I might give her a little break now and just strengthen her up as she has been in training a while. I'm hoping with her pedigree that she could be decent over hurdles."
