Tarfasha impresses for Weld and Smullen Tarfasha was backed from 4/5 in places this morning (Terrific's defection would see a rule four come into play) into 2/5 for the Topaz European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden and those 'on' the Dermot Weld runner never had too many worries as she made all. The very promising Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned daughter of Teofilo, stretched on impressively inside the last to defeat Ballybacka Queen (played up a bit at the start) by three and a quarter lengths. Registering his third winner of the Festival, Weld stated: "We have some lovely two-year-olds this year. "Pat (Smullen) gave her his usual confident ride. She's a lovely filly – very talented. "I think she's a Group filly. She has the potential to go right to the top. "She's beautiful – a stunning mover with lots of gears and speed – a stayer with speed and she'll be a lovely staying filly for next year. "She might go for a listed race next before taking on a Group one, the fillies mile in England in the autumn (at Newmarket in September)." Reflecting on the loss of Colm Murray Weld said: "I had the privilege of training a horse for him and it won at the Curragh. "I have a photo too in my office, of Ansar winning here, and in the middle of it is a beaming Colm Murray." (TW & EM)
