Clan Tara got off the mark over fences in fine style when running out a cosy winner of the beginners chase at Fairyhouse.
Davy Russell sent his mount to the front two from home and he kept on strongly to post a four-length success over Prudent Honour
It was a quick double for Russell, who had also struck in the preceding race aboard Farringdon
"He will not do a stroke in front. He'll gallop all over them and travel well but he's the same at home, he just pulls himself up in front," said trainer Paul Nolan.
"He jumped well and travelled sweetly. We decided to do this instead of going something over Christmas.
"He'll probably go to Leopardstown on January 10th for a Grade 2 there."
The Michael O'Leary-owned gelding had just been touched off by Pandorama on his chase debut at Punchestown before finishing fourth to Aranleigh at the same venue last time.
