Suwayra looks a nice prospect for Weld The Aga Khan's Suwayra made a very pleasing debut when taking the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at odds of 9/2. The daughter of Siyouni was settled in third by Oisin Orr and raced in a nice rhythm throughout. She came with a sustained challenge in the straight to wear down the front-running Cairde Go Deo (9/4) inside the final furlong. She went on to beat that one by a length and a quarter, and it was a further five lengths back to the 11/5 favourite Madonnadelrosario in third. Winning trainer Dermot Weld said: “She did it nicely. She's been working very nicely at home and I thought she'd run in the first three. “I loved the way she picked up nicely and stayed at her job very well. “We won't be in a hurry with her and we might look at a Listed fillies race for her in September or October.” The winner, from the family of Sinndar, holds an entry in the Group 1 Moyglare Stakes but may not fulfil that engagement as Weld explained: “I would doubt it, that's why I went for a mile with her. "All options are open at this stage but she's won over a mile and at the moment I'd be inclined to stick to that. “She's a lovely filly, ground-wise she's very adaptable, and please God she'll be very progressive.” Quotes from Gary Carson
